Pest Control In Stretford, Urmston Davyhulme And Flixton Spring & Summer 2011

Pest Control in Lancashire, Manchester and Cheshire has seen a lively and brisk start this year which is very surprising given the very cold (weather of this last winter winter of 2009/10.

Pest and Vermin controllers were kept occupied with the usual city centre rats and mice calls during the winter of course, but the relatively cold late winter has already provided some ant problems coming in.

The wet summers of 2008 and 2009 were not to the liking of the hymenoptera (wasps, bees and ants) but this year looks like it will turn out to be a active year for flying ant calls.

Regularly ants nest under the floors of buildings and inside cavity walls causing an army of foraging ants to invade kitchens and food cupboards.

However it is at their mating time when they are at their most distressing as they release winged queens and males which then mate on the wing.

The release of thousands of these flying ants inside houses can be horrific indeed.

A fairly new pest was quite prevalant in the Manchester, Lancashire and Cheshire area last year, the Varied Carpet Beetle (Anthrenus verbasci).

It was unusual for pest controllers in the North West to meet these pests until recent times but they seemed to arrive from nowhere in 2008 and already this year has seen reports of these beetles in substantial numbers.

Having a similar life cycle to moths their larvae, known as woolly bears devour natural fibres and can do great damage to carpets and natural fabrics. They can be a difficult and persistent pest to eradicate.

Those who work in in pest control note that Bed Bugs are carrying on their renaissance in the Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire area, frequently arriving as stowaways in the suitcases of returning holiday makers.

Very often the first reaction of unfortunate people who realise that they have been infested with these hideous,blood-sucking pests is to get rid of the old beds and get.

This is often a costly error as despite their name bed bugs don’t just live in beds and in an infested room will be found anywhere within up to five yards of the bed, in cupboards, drawers etc, even in electrical and telephone sockets and the new beds are quickly re-infested.

A lot of people confuse bed bugs with dust mites which cannot be seen by the naked eye. They both need a different form of pest control.

They dine exclusively on blood which they syphon from their sleeping victims. People regularly associate bed bugs with dirty conditions but nothing could be further from the truth, they do not need grime, they eat you!
